A Letter from Adam & Karen
We met in 2014 on a blind date and have been inseparable ever since! We were married a year later. Adam works in sales, and Karen is a high-school Spanish teacher. We both love our careers and have both been with the same employers since college. We love doing house projects, being outdoors and traveling together.
We knew prior to getting married that we would have infertility problems, and we have always talked about building our family through adoption. After a year of marriage, we decided to actively pursue adoption and in 2018, we were blessed to adopt our daughter, Gabby. We have an open adoption with her birth mother and look forward to welcoming another child into our family. We are excited to include another child into our family walks around the lake, annual camping trips and teaching them to bake our family’s favorite banana chocolate chip muffins!
Adam is my best friend and the most caring and kindest person that I know. He goes out of his way to help people and make others feel special. He is always trying to make people laugh especially our daughter, Gabby! Adam is a family guy and is energized when we spend time with both of our extended families. He is a wonderful father to Gabby and loves to play princess with her and read her stories. Adam has a passion for all sports- especially the Minnesota Gophers. He loves to be outside camping, fishing and golfing. He also loves fixing up and driving his classic muscle cars. Adam is all about hands on projects where he gets to use the newest tools that he sells and is looking forward to teaching another child to build things and learn hands on skills.
My wife Karen is the most loving and generous person in my life. One of Karen’s biggest strengths is helping others become better people, whether that be with our daughter, students, family, or myself. She is a very positive and energetic person and loves to include everyone whether it’s playing games or getting our friends and families together. Karen loves to travel, especially to Spanish speaking countries. She also enjoys reading, volunteering, and taking our dog for walks around our neighborhood. She is a wonderful mom to Gabby and is so excited to grow our family. Karen is looking forward to speaking Spanish with another child and sharing her love of languages through reading and traveling the world.
We live in a very quiet suburban neighborhood. Our four-bedroom home has a lovely backyard with a bonfire pit and beautiful woods where we often see deer roaming. We live close to our neighborhood park and within walking distance to a large nature reserve where we love going on family walks with our dog, Vina. Minnesota has all four seasons to enjoy, and we love to take advantage of them all from sledding in the winter to biking to our local beach to swim in the summers.
We are practicing Catholics and are very active in our church where we volunteer and are intentional about growing in our faith. Karen teaches at a local Catholic school and, as a family, we value the importance of a private, religious education where the love of learning and service of others is interwoven.
Our daughter, Gabby, is 3-years-old and loves to play dress-up, read books and play veterinarian with our dog. She thinks her “superpower” is jumping, which she is really good at, especially at the park. She loves being involved in swimming, gymnastics, soccer, and dance. Gabby is really looking forward to being a big sister.
We both grew up in loving and supportive homes where faith, education and hard work were highly valued. We both have large extended families that celebrate together every holiday. We are always attending family events from barbecues at the lake for the 4th of July or baking cookies with aunts and cousins during the holidays. Adam has one sister who lives locally and is the best babysitter to Gabby. Karen has three siblings along with two nephews and one niece. We both have wonderful relationships with our parents and they, as well as our whole extended family, are all so excited to welcome your child into the family!
We promise to love and support your child unconditionally throughout every stage of their life. We promise to support them as they grow and learn and to teach them how to use their gifts to serve others and to value the importance of education. We promise to tell them their story and honor your preferred level of contact through letters, photos, and visits.
