https://vimeo.com/1180550642Hello from Idaho! We are Ben and Emily, and we are excited to share a bit about our life with you. We love our life here in the great state of Idaho and feel so blessed to be in such a sweet spot--from hiking in the local foothills or the beautiful mountain ranges, to enjoying all the great things our city has to offer with friends. We're so excited to grow our family through adoption and feel overjoyed to learn about and share in your hopes and dreams for your child. With your blessing, we'd love the opportunity to get to know you and build a relationship together.
Our Story
We met where we both grew up, in Western Washington State. Emily had come home from a mission trip in India and Ben moved back to Washington to be near family after graduating from college. Eventually it led to us finding one another and we are so grateful we did! People who know us would say we have a love for adventure, aren't afraid to take a leap of faith when we feel the Lord has been stirring something in our hearts for some time, and that we have a deep love and appreciation for animals and nature. Although we love adventure, we are very content with enjoying the simple things, such as quality time together, serving in the church community, and spending time with friends and family. We have two dogs (Pipitt and Stella) who are the best, and we love including them in our adventures and everyday life.
Meet Emily
Ben says: Emily is such a godly woman who loves the people in her life fiercely. She is incredibly loyal, trustworthy, caring, and most importantly she is very intentional. She shows her intentionality in her everyday life, in the big ways and the small ways -- from spoiling our two dogs in every way imaginable, to picking me up my favorite dinner when she knows I have had a tough day. God has created her with the biggest heart for those around her. She cares for the people she loves with such a high level of empathy. Emily is going to be the most amazing mother to our future children. My favorite thing I love about Emily is how much she loves the Lord above all things. She walks in huge faith with great joy and is living out the Lord's testimony for her life every day.
Emily's interests:
- Crafting
- Gardening
- Baking
- Coffee (All the coffee and all the mugs!)
- Hiking and Hunting
- Evangelical Missions & Children's Ministry
Meet Ben
Emily says: Ben is the life of any party. He creates a fun and safe environment for people to be themselves. He has a passion and zeal that encourages me every day to live life to the fullest! This translates into how he leads our family, faithfully, every day. Ben is intentional and consistent in how he pursues his Faith. He lives out what he learns whether it's in Bible study or through reading a new book. I can't wait to see him be a dad! I know that he will love our future children fiercely through helping them love their childhood, teaching them how to care for others well, and be who they were created to be.
Ben's Interests:
- Golf
- Hiking/hunting
- Reading
- Quality time with family & friends
- Working out
Our Family and Community
We both have big crazy families, and we absolutely love them! At the moment we do not have family in Idaho with us, but Ben's brother is finishing up his Seminary school in Minnesota next year and he, his wife, and two kids are planning to move near us after he graduates. They are family, but also our closest friends and are an amazing, godly family. Ben's parents have also been discussing moving out here when that time comes, so we anticipate family to be around soon. Emily's family is not too far away in Washington and are an amazing bunch as well, and have always been close with us.
We also feel so grateful to have such an amazing church family here in Idaho. We have close friends that we live our life with by meeting in small group weekly, fellowshipping together on Sunday mornings, and spend time with regularly. We're so blessed to call them our friends, and most of them have their own little ones that would be thrilled to have a new friend to spend time with when our family grows.
Our Home in Idaho
We live in Southwest Idaho, which is the most hidden gem in the United States. Our house has 3 bedrooms and is in a wonderful, gated community full of neighborhood kids, a public park, and across the street from the state park. Our house is very cute and cozy. We especially love the openness of the downstairs living area where everyone can be together. We love to use the space to host family and friends for game nights. Our favorite part is the big kitchen, which we love to spend time in cooking together and using that time to connect with one another. We love taking our two dogs to the park to play, and to stop and talk with our awesome neighbors that we've become very close with. On the weekends, we enjoy going to the foothills or the greenbelt with our dogs, going to the mountains, spending Sunday mornings at church, and just enjoying the relaxing downtime in our home connecting as a family and recharging. And come summertime, we take advantage of being just minutes from town, enjoying the farmer's markets, great restaurants, and fun stores! We moved to Idaho partially for the outdoors and amazing community, but also because it is the safest state in the United States, making it the perfect place to raise a family!
Our Promise
Our promise to you and to your child is this...To walk this journey with faith, love, and deep respect for you. You will always be honored in our home. We promise your child a life filled with unconditional love, endless nurturing, lots of fun, and every opportunity to grow into the person they were created to be. They will be cherished every single day, surrounded by laughter, and have fun parents who love them fiercely. Most importantly, your child will be raised knowing the Lord, and in a home rooted by our unwavering faith where Christ is the Cornerstone.
We will forever be grateful for the gift of trust you place in us and will raise your child knowing how deeply loved they have been from the very beginning. We have already been praying for you and your child for quite some time now, and will continue to do so.

More About Our Family
Why We Are Adopting
We have both always had a heart for adoption. We actually discussed adoption on our second date being something that was important to both of us. Our hearts for adoption come from the fact that we all are adopted into God's family. We still desire to have biological children someday, but feel so honored and excited to begin growing our family through adoption.
For Ben, it started in middle school. His best friend since kindergarten ended up living with him and his mom from the 8th grade up until they graduated high school. To see his best friend be so grateful to his mom for a great place to live and to see him welcomed into the entire family (including cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles) had a huge impact on him.
For Emily, it was simply growing up in the church. Some of her closest friends were adopted and have wonderful families. She also grew up around families in the church who adopted children as well and has always felt it on her heart to have children through adoption someday.
Our Passions in Ministry
Ben has a passion for one-on-one discipleship with other men in the church. He has been discipled by a few very strong pastors. He desires to be a strong student and biblically sound, so he can then go make disciples for those God puts in his life. He also has a passion for our church's college ministry.
Emily has a huge heart for missions. She serves in the missions' ministry at our church. Before we met, Emily spent 5 years traveling the world and sharing the gospel. She has a huge heart for lost souls in other parts of the world.
Last year we did our first mission trip together as a couple in Mexico and it was such a life-giving experience for us as individuals and as a married couple. God moves in such huge ways when we make ourselves available to just saying yes to an opportunity in front of us. We plan to share in this passion with our kids and do mission trips together as a family!
Our Pets
We are both big animal lovers! When we first got married, we lived on 5 acres and had a little farm with cats, dogs, chickens, and ducks. Since moving to Idaho, we now just have our two dogs, Stella and Pipitt! They are good dogs and both have been great around our nieces and nephews, and our friends' kids.
Pipitt is a Field Red Golden Retriever. We got her when she was a puppy from a family who had life circumstances change and needed a new forever home for her. She has been such a blessing for us and is a great companion. She LOVES to run and there is nothing she loves more in this world than her ball.
Stella is a Bernese Mountain Dog and is an absolute love bug. She is definitely a momma's girl and favors her snuggle time with Emily, but when Ben gets home, she is ready for some serious play time. She loves to wrestle with Pipitt! She's very smart and is becoming a great dog. She's always been gentle around kids, which was so important to us!
Plans for Childcare
We are working hard to make it possible for Emily to be a stay-at-home mom full-time. She plans to stop working as soon as we are placed with a child, and more than likely will not go back to work until the kids are in school. Once our kids are in school, she'd like to go back to working part-time (in line with their school schedules). We plan to use very little childcare, as it has always been Emily's goal to be a stay-at-home mother.
If necessary for Emily to work part-time for periods of time, Ben has the flexibility to work from home a few days a week, but we are hopeful that is not necessary and Emily can be home full-time!
In Closing
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and our life together. We would be honored to get to know you, to hear your hopes and dreams for your child, and to walk this journey with you. We are truly grateful for your consideration.
As a couple, we are thrilled to step into the adventure of parenthood together, learning, growing, and leaning on each other every step of the way. We each bring unique strengths, talents, and perspectives that we believe beautifully complement one another. Where one of us is patient, the other is playful; where one is imaginative, the other is steady and strong. These differences will allow us to nurture every part of your child's heart, mind, and spirit. Together, we will create a home full of laughter, learning, comfort, and unconditional love.
