¡Hola! We share a deep love for each other and our biggest dream has been to share our lives with a child. It means so much to be considered as adoptive parents for your little one. Our relationship has grown stronger with each year of our marriage, and we always look for beauty in everyday life together. It’s important to us to face life’s challenges by finding the good and having hope. We love traveling and discovering new places, long walks with our dog, quiet moments at home, shared meals, and simply being around each other. Time with family matters so much to us, and we love keeping up with our godchildren and the other kids in our life. Becoming parents would be a dream come true! We’d love to get to know more about you and the hopes you have for your child’s future.

Estamos muy ilusionados de aumentar nuestra familia y querer a ese niño o a esa niña con todo nuestro corazón. Gracias por considerar esta decisión tan llena de amor.

Our Story

We met at the university where we were both undergrads and now we’ve been married almost 15 amazing years. Even before we married, we considered adopting a child one day. Over our years together it became clear that having a biological child was not going to happen. We’ve both come to feel that adoption is our calling now and we are excited about growing our family this way!

Together we enjoy:

  • Neighborhood walks

  • Taking our dog swimming at the bayou

  • Going to the beach to relax with a good book and watch a sunset

  • Planning or hosting gatherings and barbecues with loved ones

  • Road trips

About María

Fernando says: María is a genuinely kind person who cares about the needs of those around her. She is compassionate and always ready to help others. I’ve watched how she cares for our nieces and nephews, and how much she enjoys being involved in their lives. They adore her! I know she will be an attentive, loving, devoted mother who puts our child first. María has a natural ability to nurture, listen, and create a safe and joyful environment. As a mom, she will raise a child with patience and tenderness, making sure our son or daughter feels valued, protected, and cherished.

María’s interests:

  • Playing the piano and learning to play a new song

  • Going sailing with Fernando

  • Doing a puzzle by the fireplace

  • Gardening

  • Cooking from scratch

About Fernando

María says: Fernando is the kindest person I know. He makes me fall in love with him every day! He is authentic, honest, and has a goodness of heart that I admire. Fernando often looks for ways to help others in need and he cares deeply for his family and friends. Everyone loves Fernando! As a pediatric surgeon, he pours into the families he treats and is well respected by his team at work. He has a way with children, whether they are his patients or our nieces and nephews. I see how kids look up to him and feel comfortable around him. I’m sure they can sense how much he cares about what they are going through or doing. I believe Fernando will be a wonderful father who stays involved in our child’s life in so many ways.

Fernando’s interests:

  • Watching or playing sports

  • Enjoying the outdoors

  • Playing tennis with María

  • Reading a book on the porch

  • Simple dinners and good conversation with friends or family

Our Home in Florida

We live in the northwest area of Florida, along the Gulf Coast. We love the calm, welcoming Southern feel here. The community has a relaxed and friendly spirit too. Our neighborhood is beautiful, safe, and quiet, with neighbors who look out for each other and share lives together. There are lovely views of the Gulf throughout the area. We enjoy walking our dog around our family-friendly neighborhood and going to the nearby parks. One of the larger parks is within walking distance of us and has water access and various outdoor and water activities to enjoy. There are also basketball courts, tennis courts, and soccer fields close by. This is a great place to raise a child!

Our home has 3 bedrooms and the layout feels open and welcoming. We love spending mornings and evenings on our porch when the weather is nice. There is a fenced yard in back, and we have a garden and plenty of green space to play. We have already set up the nursery, which is a spacious room filled with natural light. We’re ready and excited to share our home with a child.

Our Families

We both come from big and loving, close families. Family has always been at the center of our lives. Our siblings are also our closest friends. While most of our extended family lives in Spain, we stay in regular contact and remain an active and meaningful part of each other’s lives. We enjoy traveling to visit one another as well. We have 12 nephews and 6 nieces, including a niece and nephew who were adopted. Through them, we’ve seen the beauty and bond of adoption and have deepened our belief that family is built through love. Everyone has been excited about and supportive of our decision to adopt, ready to welcome our child with open and loving arms.

Thoughts from Our Hearts

Prometemos cuidar, proteger y amar a tu hijo todos los días de nuestra vida. Gracias por considerarnos como padres adoptivos para tu hijo.

More than anything, we promise to love your child beyond measure. We will always put first what is best for him or her. Your child will grow up knowing we are there for them, through anything. We will also give space to grow, learn, and develop strength and independence. We want to be parents who help our child pursue their dreams. We will lead by example, guide with patience, respect, understanding, and encouragement. Your child will know they are safe, valued, and treasured.

You will always be an honored part of his or her story. We will raise your child to know what you mean to us and how much you love them. If you want to keep a connection with us, we welcome open adoption and hope to talk about what that could look like between us all. Our hope is that we could build a connection rooted in honesty, respect, and kindness.

There are no perfect words to express the gratitude and appreciation we have for you already. If you choose us to adopt your child, we will never take your decision lightly. With responsible and humble hearts, we will always strive to be worthy of the trust you place in us as adoptive parents. Thank you for considering us.

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions: call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

Sincerely, Fernando & María

More About Our Family

Fun Facts About Us

María: I’m known at work for being very serious and detail driven, but among my close friends and family, I’m usually the one making everyone laugh.

Fernando: I love music and art, though I have never been creatively talented myself. Even as a child, no matter how hard I tried to be artistic, I was not good at it. I’ve learned to laugh at myself and still enjoy the arts from the front row.

María: I create invitations and signs for weddings. It’s an honor to create beautiful keepsake pieces to celebrate the couples I work with. I love owning a small business that I can work from home and choose how many projects I take on so that I have the flexibility to become a stay-at-home mom after we adopt.

Fernando: I am a pediatric orthopedic surgeon who helps children with spine or bone-related problems. I love the sense or purpose my work brings, getting to see the positive change I'm a part of for each of my patients and their families.

Our Values

We have a deep faith in God that impacts our lives. As Catholics, we attend church regularly and enjoy participating in activities with the parish or serving people in our community through the church. We trust God’s plans, even when they look different from ours. Trusting God gives us peace to face anything we go through with a sense of purpose and belonging in life. As a couple, we are also a true team who support each other in everything we do. Our marriage comes first and from there we have so much more to give to other aspects of our lives, like work or relationships with others. We encourage one another to become the best versions of ourselves and to reach our potential, professionally and personally. We treasure our friends and family and nurture those connections with care.

Traditions We Love

• Gathering around the table for long meals filled with conversation and laughter
• Celebrating holidays together, especially Christmas and summer vacations
• Summers at our parents’ country home
• Playing board games in the winter

Our Dog

We have an adorable English Cocker Spaniel, named Molly. She’s very careful with kids and our nieces and nephews love her and always ask to play with her. We know Molly will be a special dog for our child to grow up with.
