More About Our Family |
Our Special Interests | We love to travel and spend time outside. We love to explore other countries as well as new neighborhoods in our community. We enjoy learning about new cultures, cuisines and customs. We believe that the world is a place to be explored and that traveling with family makes for lifetime memories.
Our Faith | We love God and are grateful to Him for all that He has blessed us with. We actually met on a Christian website because for both of us, faith in God is the most important thing. And when we say faith, we also believe in the works of God. We think that you say thank you to God by giving to His children and spreading love with every person you encounter.
Our Extended Family | We are surrounded by a community of people who we have known for over two decades. They are here for us to celebrate the joys in life and to pray with us through the challenges. Several of them live in Georgia, D.C and Florida, and when you get us in the room together it is always like a family reunion with food, fun and music.
Our Professions | We both work in education. Jamal is a special education teacher who works with autistic students in a self-contained classroom. He has always had a heart for the work and feels like often students with learning difference are overlooked and forgotten. So, he has taken that purpose and is dedicated to becoming a leader in the teaching field.
Niambi has worked at an educational nonprofit that connects students with career and life experiences to deepen their high school learning. She grew up in a small, rural community with very few resources, but her family instilled in her a great love for learning and its value to a happy life. Now she is committed to making sure that every child- regardless of where the come from- have the same access to a quality high school education.
Our Musical Interests | We love music of all types. Of course we grew up listening to old-school Hip-Hop, and we have to stop and dance every time we hear Mary J., Biggie or TuPac. Still, we also love the Beetles, Beyoncé, Jill Scott, old-school R&B and rock. Did we mention, Neo-soul and jazz? We love a variety of music. Jamal has also been known to fill the house with Spanish music; and Niambi grew up in the south, so she can sing classic country music with the best of them. And then there is gospel; the trusted music to help us sort through tough times.
We live in the state of | Georgia, but we spend a lot of time in Florida.
Our Hidden Talents | Jamal understand Spanish perfectly. His parents are Panamanian, and he grew up traveling to Panama in the summer. So, where he is not quite fluent in speaking the language, he has no problem understanding it.
Niambi is a very handy. She grew up in the country, and out of necessity knows a little about a lot of things. If given time, she can pretty much learn how to make- or fix- just about anything.
Avery has a great memory. You can read a book to him once and by the end, he can almost retail you what happened on each page. We can't wait until he actually learns to read for himself!
