We're James and Juliana and we are inspired by beauty, learning and culture. We love our families, the town we live in, and both our church and school communities. We fell in love with one another while we were working together to start a Christian school, got married three years ago and never looked back. We are both "doers" and we are grateful for God's purpose in our lives.
We love spending time together exploring the quaint little towns nearby, going hiking, riding our bikes to the beach, and spending time with friends and family. We love to be outside as much as possible gardening, snow shoeing, doing house projects or walking our dog, Sweet Nellie. Adopting a child was something that we started dreaming about before we were married, and we are incredibly grateful to be on this journey as our path to building a family. Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little bit about us.
More About Us
How we met: Juliana, an elementary school principal, was introduced to James, an astrophysicist. Juliana loves children and teaching, and has always been deeply invested in schools and education. James, a NASA scientist, was doing research and has worked on multiple satellites that were launched into space.
Together, we have built a beautiful life that included starting a school! It's been a lot of work, though it has been worth every bit of effort.
When we aren't teaching, we love stargazing (James knows all the constellations), and we have a pretty awesome telescope. We also love reading books together, singing and playing guitar around our firepit, and cooking dinner for friends and family. James is always trying to sneak in a dance in the kitchen.
Weekend getaways are always a favorite and we have recently enjoyed sneaking away to New York City, Maine, Quebec City, Paris and Savannah, Georgia. James loves camping and Juliana enjoys a comfy bed, so we have found a perfect compromise--glamping it is! We look forward to sharing our adventures with our future child.
About Juliana
According to James: I am so grateful for the love of beauty, heartwarming traditions, sense of adventure, and commitment to meaningful relationships that Juliana has brought into my life. She loves to travel and is equally comfortable perusing Renaissance masterpieces at the Uffizi Gallery or driving a stick shift through the chaotic streets of the Holy Land. Church and family are her greatest commitments in life, and she especially loves Sunday dinners at our house, topped off with her specialty homemade ice cream and apple pie. I always say she is the best teacher in the world, and I am consistently inspired by her love of children’s literature she shares with her students and the care she shows to every child. She has an enormous heart, and I cannot wait to see her share her love of Christ and sense of wonder at the beauty of His creation with our child.
About James
According to Juliana: James is the most humble person I know. He is a brilliant scientist, deep thinker, talented musician, strong leader and incredibly faithful, Christian man. He spends his time serving others as a teacher, husband, son and friend, and always lends a helping hand asking for nothing in return. He loves to learn (taught himself Latin recently), figure out how to fix things, read, or stroll around an art museum. He has mastered the art of making a foam heart on my morning latte, and he has all the love and energy to give to a child. I can’t wait to watch him become a father, as he will love and serve his family with integrity, gratitude and joy.
Our Family
Juliana’s parents and sister's family attend church with us at the beautiful church her father founded over 50 years ago. Juliana’s parents live just a mile away and take care of our sweet greyhound every day while we both head off to school. There isn’t anything they would like more than to be part of our child’s life on a daily basis. Juliana’s sister’s family live around the corner and are eager to welcome a new baby cousin. James’ mom is just 45 minutes away in beautiful southern Maine. We are surrounded by close friends, and all are excited to pour love into our future child.
Not only are we surrounded by close family, we also have a close-knit Church community who we think of as our extended family. Sunday dinner is an important rhythm to our week, and we host family or friends almost every week.
We are looking forward to sharing the deep traditions that we have established around holidays (like lighting our tree with real candles and going to the midnight service), lobster bakes on the 4th of July, and the turkey trot and gratitude service at our church on Thanksgiving.
Our Home in Massachusetts
We live in a beautiful New England town north of Boston on the ocean. Our 3-bedroom traditional “cape” home is located in a family neighborhood tucked between walking trails along the river, downtown coffee shops, and the gorgeous, sandy beach where we love to have pizza dinners in the summer. Close to Boston, we often enjoy visiting museums, going to a Christmas show or enjoying the historical charm of the Italian North End or Chinatown cuisine.
Our home is so much more than a place we live; it is filled with love and warmth. We both enjoy cooking dinner together, Juliana enjoys gardening, and James tends to our six silly chickens who cluck around the backyard and loves to build a fire in the fireplace. Our sweet, rescued greyhound keeps us laughing and moving in the neighborhood. We are grateful to have a local farm where we pick up our vegetables weekly. With our church just a mile away, we are surrounded by people we love.
Our Promise to You
We are truly excited to learn more about you and your dreams for your child. We promise to raise your child with all of the love and deepest care that we are able to provide. We will raise your child to know their adoption story, and we will speak of you with only love and the deepest gratitude. We believe that raising a child is the most important work we are called to do! We promise to teach your child about Christ, provide them with the best education, and give them experiences that will allow them to discover and nurture their God-given talents and capacities. We promise to share with them the good, the true, and the beautiful so that they may grow in joy, wisdom, and virtue.

More About Our Family
Our Love Story
We were introduced to one another when Juliana had a dream of starting a school. As an academic, James was introduced to her as someone who could help her. We worked tirelessly developing a business plan, moving through the incorporation process, and getting the website launched. Only a few months into this process, James suggested that their relationship couldn't be contained to the professional and that they should "date." Juliana was convinced such a relationship would ruin the school. Their relationship evolved. They were engaged just months later, married soon after, and opened the front doors of their school the following September. The school project is their passion project, a beautiful pre-K through 12th grade classical Christian school, and a true love story.
Our Faith
We are both practicing Eastern Orthodox Christians. Our faith is steeped in antiquity and tradition, and we try to live our lives embodying the virtues and spiritual life set forth by Jesus Christ and also according to the liturgical calendar celebrating feast days and important saint days. Integrating our faith into everything we do is incredibly important and we strive to shine the light of Christ into the world around us.
Our Musical Interest
Most of all we love singing together. James is a beautiful guitarist and it's one of our favorite things to invite friends over, light a fire in the backyard and sing folk songs...Johny Cash and June Carter duets are Juliana's favorite. We have also enjoyed singing in our church choir together for the past few years.
Things We Love About Where We Live
-Fall: brisk air, leaf piles, the apple orchard, hot apple-cider, watching a football game, bonfires in the yard, and sweaters.
-New England Winter: Christmas, chopping down our tree and decorating it with real candles, going caroling in the neighborhood, cozy snow days, sledding, hot chocolate and fires.
-Spring: kayaking along the river, digging out our garden, and getting into Boston to see the daffodils in full bloom in the public gardens.
-Summer: beach days and beach dinners (we live down the street from the beach), ice cream cones, bike rides, jumping off the bridge at high-tide and summer reading!
We look forward to re-discovering all of the seasonal beauty through a child's eyes!
In Closing
We are humbled and grateful to be on this journey and we are ready to raise a child with our deepest love and care. You will always be an incredibly important part of your child’s story and our family, and we will pray for you and maintain a connection with you as you would like. We can’t wait to get to know you and are honored to have shared a small glimpse of our life with you.
