More About Our Family |
Our Special Interests | As a couple we enjoy watching our favorite TV shows, going to the movies, playing board games, doing puzzles, traveling, and spending time with our extended family. Together, we have traveled to 10 states, and it is our goal to one day visit all 50. One of our favorite activities on a weekend evening is to get together with our friends and play various board or card games. We can both be a little competitive at times.
Jonathan enjoys being active and his favorite activities are golf and bowling. Jonathan bowls in a local league as well as in regional tournaments. Jonathan is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and loves to spend his Sundays watching football with his dad and brother.
Amanda loves reading and baking. She loves to relax with her coffee and a good romance novel. Amanda's chocolate chip cookies are one of her specialties. She is also experimenting with cake decorating. Amanda is a big George Strait fan and knows all of his songs. She also collects Beauty and the Beast memorabilia.

Our Faith | We were both raised in the Catholic Church. We attend mass every Sunday, pray daily, and believe in maintaining a personal relationship with Christ. We are both active in our parish community. We are both Communion Ministers. Amanda also volunteers with the high school youth group and the annual church fundraiser. Our church is a very welcoming and supportive community. One of our favorite parts of each week is going to Sunday coffee and donuts after mass for fellowship with the church community.

Our Family | Our family is almost as excited as we are to welcome your child into our home. We both maintain close relationships with our families, and your child will be embraced by them as well.
Most of Amanda's family lives in her hometown about 6 hours away. Her parents cannot wait to have their first grandchild. Amanda's brother Cody is a firefighter and will be a super fun uncle for any child. Amanda's sister, Heather, is recently married to Royce and cannot wait to be an aunt.
Jonathan is the oldest of four siblings. His parents and younger brother, Jeremy, live within walking distance. Jonathan also has many extended family members including his grandpa, aunt, uncle, and multiple cousins that live in our same community and attend our church. Jonathan's other brother, Josh, and his wife, Izzy, live about an hour away where they are both going to school. Jonathan's sister, Beca, currently lives with her family in South Carolina. Beca's husband, John, is in the Air Force. Thanks to Beca and John, we have two amazing nieces that we absolutely adore. We can't wait for them to move back here so that our kids can all grow up together.

Our Jobs | We have both been lucky to find jobs that allow us to follow our passions. Jonathan began working at the local bowling alley in high school, and they offered him a full-time position in their main office once he graduated from college. He is now the General Manager, and loves the community that bowling provides. Jonathan also volunteers his time to coach the local high school bowling team.
Amanda found a passion for higher education while in college. She currently works in the Student Engagement and Leadership Office at the local university. Amanda specifically works with Orientation Programs for new students. Amanda loves all of her students and is blessed to play a role in helping them achieve their dreams of higher education.

Family Traditions | We have many family traditions that include Sunday dinners at Jonathan's parents, golfing with Jonathan's mom on Mother's Day, and kolache baking with Amanda's family the Saturday after Thanksgiving. One of our newer traditions is that we get together with some of Jonathan's cousins to cook dinner for his grandpa every Thursday evening since his grandma passed away. Some of our other traditions include spending holidays with our family and taking large family vacations. We also look forward to continuing some of the traditions from our childhoods and starting new traditions with our own child. These include cooking Saturday brunch together and giving our child a new book for every birthday and special occasion with a special note written inside.

We live in the state of... | Amanda was born and raised in Texas, and though Jonathan was born overseas while his father was in the military, he also mainly grew up in this great state. Texas offers a lot of variety and fun experiences from hiking in the large canyon ten miles away to travel to the San Antonio River-walk or the beach on Mustang Island for a weekend getaway.
|
Our Community | We love living in our small town and cannot imagine starting our family anywhere else. Our community was recently voted a top 10 place to raise a family. We love living in such a friendly and safe town. It is fair to say that our community is unlike any other city in Texas.
The nearby State Park offers camping, picnicking, hiking, and horseback riding in our own backyard. The regional university in our community offers us a unique experience to participate in sporting events, theater productions, and musical performances. The Historic Downtown Square is a perfect venue for many annual community events such as the July 4th Celebration & Parade, Farmer's Market, Summer Concert Series, Movie Nights and Christmas on the Square.
