Hi, we are Josh and Rocio! We've been together for 20 years and speak both Spanish and English at home. We have two dogs: Max is a Beagle and Buddy is a Jack Russel Terrier mix. We like to spend time going to parks and museums as well as other entertainment experiences like Broadway shows and sporting events. We also enjoy taking road trips and traveling by plane to different parts of the world. One of our favorite places to travel is to Latin America and particularly Guatemala, given that both of us have family ties there.
¡Hola, somos Josh y Rocio!
About Us
We first met at ages 11 (Josh) and 10 (Rocio) in Guatemala. Our grade school interactions formed a childhood puppy love. We eventually went on our own separate paths in life but came across each other again much later as young adult professionals, starting a long-distance relationship with Rocio in Guatemala and Josh in the US. We got married in 2008.
Josh works as a financial advisor at a bank and Rocio is a medical doctor specializing in women's health. We enjoy cozy evenings with home-cooked meals and spend time together sharing about our days. On the weekends, we love being outdoors taking walks with our dogs around the neighborhood and in nearby parks. We also like gardening in our yard and cooking. We enjoy spending time with family/friends, and regularly attend Sunday mass at our local Catholic church. We also enjoy occasional road trips and vacations to fun and interesting places.
We’re excited to share our favorite things in life with our future child, having him/her join us on family adventures while encouraging him/her to discover and develop God-given talents, interests, and passions. We look forward to this adoption journey and creating new memories as our family grows!
About Rocio (By Josh)
Rocio is my best friend in life. She is my special lady -- very kind, loving, compassionate, intelligent, and fun to be around. While she is active at work and on projects around the house, she is at the same time calm, levelheaded, focused, friendly, and good with people.
She enjoys her work as a doctor and has a gift for treating patients, caring for people, and being a supportive professional who likes to learn and stay current in all of the latest trends in her field. At home, Rocio likes cooking, gardening, arts/crafts, occasionally painting, going to different restaurants, and looking after our two dogs. She also loves to get together with family and friends, as well as entertaining people who visit us from out of town.
She is appreciated and loved by her patients, friends, family, and especially me. She will make a great mother, setting a wonderful example for any child joining our family.
Rocio looks forward to raising our child in a nurturing environment where they will be stimulated and inspired to become their best self.
About Josh (By Rocio)
Josh is a very kind, thoughtful, loving, polite, and reliable person. He loves to spend time outdoors, doing small projects around the house, and likes to spend time at home with his family. He loves to spoil our dogs with treats and long daily walks outdoors. He is an easy person to live with, caring for family and friends. He loves putting together puzzles and Legos, gardening, listening to music, watching sports, and tries to exercise regularly. Josh has a strong faith in God and is my anchor during difficult times. He reads the Bible every day and has developed a close relationship with God. He will be a loving father and do everything he can to provide a safe environment for our child, and will guide him/her in God's ways so they can develop strong Christian values.
Josh cherishes spending time with his nephews and nieces. He is excited about becoming a dad, teaching them his love for God, family, nature, animals, sports, hobbies and traveling.
Our Home in New Jersey
Since getting married we have lived in multiple states on the east coast and in the southwest. As of 2018, we have been residing and working in the NY/NJ area. Last summer we bought a house and relocated to a new neighborhood in norther New Jersey. The house has a brick exterior with 3 bedrooms, a cozy living room, a comfortable sunroom, and nice gardens in the back and front yards, including a centerpiece cherry blossom tree.
The house is in a quiet and walkable neighborhood with lots of families and kids. The town is in a county with a great public school system. Our community has lots of activities for youth and retired people. We live near lots of different restaurants with all sorts of Asian, Latin, and other types of cuisine. We are also in very close proximity to New York City. Our location is convenient for family road trips to the beach, parks, shopping, stadiums, theaters, and other points of interest in New Jersey, Upstate New York, and even other places like New England and MD/DC/VA.
Our Family
Rocio has a close relationship to her younger sister who lives in the Midwest. They call each other almost every day. Rocio is also close to her niece and is helping pay her college tuition.
Josh's parents live in New England. He usually calls them on a weekly basis to catch up. His parents are also very close to Rocio and are happy she is part of the family. Josh has a good relationship with his younger siblings who are both married with children. We are more frequently in touch with Josh's sister who lives a couple hours away with her husband and three kids. However, we also occasionally visit his brother's family who lives farther away in Florida. Josh also has a half-sister that he stays in touch with.
Our families are excited for us to welcome a new child into our life and have them be a part of our family gatherings. Our nieces and nephews are also excited to have another cousin to play with. Our future child will grow up in good company, not only from our dogs but also 6 playful and loving cousins. Whenever possible, we try to spend holidays together with family, and have even gone on family trips to Florida, Maine, and Hawaii.
Our Promise
We promise to love your child unconditionally, provide them with a caring home, prioritize their safety and well-being, and keep God at the center of their lives. We promise to help your child develop faith, build a future for themselves, and have fun. We will create an environment where they can learn, take risks, dream big, make mistakes without judgement, try new things, and become the best version of themselves. We will raise our child with strong values of faith, respect, empathy, and appreciation for education. They will always feel loved by us and our extended family.
We promise to always speak openly about adoption, honoring you and the incredible gift you have given. We are open to your preferred level of contact.
We eagerly await the chance to become parents!

More About Our Family
What We Do For Fun
We each have our own hobbies we enjoy, but together we love different cultural and live experiences and have been to concerts for Latin stares like Juanes, Marc Anthony, and Carlos Vives, US artists like Hall and Oates, and other international stars like Tears for Fears and Andrea Bocelli. Rocio loves going to Broadway musicals like Nutcracker, Shen Yun, Aladdin, Chicago, and Wicked.
Another favorite thing of ours is to take different types of road trips. In the past we've gone apple picking in upstate NY, camping in National Parks, hiking/walking in local, state and national parks, and have even driven to Canada with our dogs. From time to time, we also enjoy extended travel and vacationing to different parts of the world including Hawaii, Italy, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, and Guatemala, among other destinations.
Lastly, we also like entertaining family and friends from out of town to enjoy all there is to offer in nearby New York City, including restaurants with food from different cultures, walking and sight-seeing, going to museums like the Met, and attending Broadway shows and sporting events like Yankees baseball games.
Our Pets
We love our 2 dogs! Our first dog, Max, is a beagle who was born on a farm in Maryland. He's sociable, gets along with all dogs and people, and is always ready for a good walk or dog treat. Buddy is a Jack Russell Terrier mix who we rescued off the street when we lived in Texas. Although he is little, he's smart and tough. Whenever possible, we love to include our dogs in family activities, from hanging out to walks, road trips, and family visits.
A Typical Weekend
On any given weekend, we wake up and make a nice family breakfast with coffee, fresh fruit, bacon, and either eggs or pancakes and maple syrup. We usually enjoy eating in our breakfast nook with a nice view of our backyard and share scraps of bacon with our dogs. Then we take our dogs for their morning walk around the neighborhood and to parks nearby. Once finished, we usually come back home to do chores before going out for errands and some fun. While housecleaning, we will typically be listening to the radio or Spotify. We love a wide variety of American, English, and Latin music. We especially listen to top 40 music in both English and Spanish, but we also like salsa, reggae, samba, bossa nova, jazz, rock, alternative, and even some country music. After grocery shopping, we might go out for a nice lunch or dinner at a restaurant or grab takeout and enjoy eating outdoors at home when the weather is nice. On weekend nights, we love watching movies or occasionally getting together with friends. On Sundays, we also always attend church.
Family Values
We believe you can learn something good from everyone; therefore, we must try our best to be humble and respectful to all. We believe in togetherness as a family knowing that patience, encouragement, and persevering can lead to great things. We believe in striving to seek purpose in life which aligns with God's will so that we can do good and be useful. This includes helping the younger generation in our family and giving them the best chance to succeed and do great things in life. We believe in encouraging kids and inspiring them by setting a good example and teaching them about our own life experiences. We believe in spending family resources like time and money on activities promoting good health, higher education, and cultural enrichment. We believe in gratitude and being thankful for all gifts and blessings received.
-Love: we show our love by standing by one another during challenges and celebrating each other's successes. We believe when love is present, everyone in our family feels safe, valued, and understood.
-Respect: respect for each other strengthens relationships in our families, for us it means listening to each other, honoring differences, and treating everyone with kindness. We believe respect teaches children and adults alike to communicate thoughtfully and to value each person's voice and individuality.
-Responsibility: For us it means a way to build trust and character. It means fulfilling commitments, contributing to the household, and being accountable for one's actions. Responsibility teaches children and adults teamwork and prepares us to face life's challenges with maturity and integrity.
-Education: We highly appreciate education and believe that families prioritizing education encourage curiosity, discipline, and lifelong learning. Education for us includes not only academic achievement, but also learning values, culture, skills, and wisdom that shape responsible and capable individuals.
-Faith: We believe faith is the center of our home. It provides us strength, hope, and guidance in good and tough times. We believe faith will teach our child compassion, forgiveness, gratitude, and humility.
We believe when love, respect, education, responsibility and faith guide a family, they create a strong foundation that supports success, unity, and lasting bonds for generations to come.
